What Information Does CCE Academy Collect and How Is It Used?
Personal User Information
When a user registers on the CCE Academy website, we collect required personally identifiable data including but not limited to name, email address, mailing address, telephone number and a self-chosen password. Primarily, this data facilitates the interactive environment that makes CCE Academy’s program list functional. In addition, we use the data for our records, to communicate with users, and as verification of completed courses for professional organizations (see Information Sharing below). We also collect data during our program examinations that is linked to each user. This information allows users to retake an examination that was not passed. This website does not store answers once an examination is passed. A “passed status” is linked with the personal user information.
The CCE Academy website collects required and optional information from users both at the time of registration and at later intervals. The demographic information collected includes education, credentials, and other data that aids CCE Academy’s research. This information is linked to the personally identifiable information of each user. In addition, a program evaluation is offered to users after they pass the examination. This data is not linked to a specific user, but is aggregate information for the betterment of future and existing programs.
Log File Information
This website collects standard log file information. Software is used to process collected log file information including but not limited to IP address, number of times a page is viewed, number of sessions during which a page is viewed, and browser type. These pieces of information are collected to administer the website, identify and resolve problems, and analyze trends by gathering broad demographic information for aggregate use. Log file information is not linked to personal user information.
With Whom Does CCE Academy Share Personal Information?
The CCE Academy website does not sell or rent personally identifiable information it collects. However, information is shared internally with CCE Academy’s parent organization the Center for Credentialing & Education (CCE) as well as CCE’s affiliates, the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and the NBCC Foundation. We also will share information with professional organizations contacting CCE Academy for the purpose of verifying completion of program hours of its members, certificants or licensees.
Though CCE Academy makes every effort to preserve user privacy within ourselves, our affiliates, and professional organizations, we will disclose personal information when required by law to comply with a current judicial proceeding, court order, or legal or ethical process or investigation.
How Does CCE Academy Store and Protect Personal Information?
Personal Data Security
The CCE Academy website is very concerned about the security of personal data. Only employees who need access to personal information to perform a specific job are granted access to data. Our database is stored on servers behind a firewall in a secure location.
Order/Credit Card Security
The CCE Academy website takes the security of credit card information very seriously. We use SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to encrypt credit card information before transmitting it directly to Verisign. In accordance with the Privacy Act (5 U.S.C. § 552a), since we have no specific need for maintaining credit card information in that we do not provide refunds, we do not store credit card data. We do share the confirmation of payment acceptance to initiate the interactive ability to take a purchased program examination.

Users must register and provide personal information to view programs. We require personal information to verify identity with professional organizations for which the programs are obtained. Users must provide credit card information online to purchase examinations. Users must enable or accept cookies in order for CCE Academy to function properly.
